Madison County Plan Commission recommends extending data center moratorium
The Madison County Plan Commission has recommended extending the county's moratorium on data center development for an additional six months. This recommendation followed a public meeting where residents advocated for a longer extension.
The Madison County Plan Commission has formally recommended an extension of the current moratorium on data center development for an additional six months. This decision was made after a meeting at the Anderson Public Library, where several residents, including Tandy Jones, voiced support for prolonging the moratorium, with some calling for a full year's extension.
Attorney Jeff Graham was present to explain the rules for public comment during the proceedings. Madison County Assessor Larry Davis also referenced relevant news articles concerning data centers during the Plan Commission meeting. The recommendation will now proceed to the appropriate next steps for approval.
