The Letcher Fiscal Court in Kentucky has announced its intention to thoroughly educate itself on data center development before any formal proposals are brought before the county.

Judge-Executive Terry Adams stated that no companies have yet approached the county with plans for a data center. The court's decision to proactively seek information follows comments from congressional candidate Michael Wein.

Wein has reportedly gathered thousands of signatures throughout Eastern Kentucky in opposition to data center development. His group is scheduled to host a public meeting on the topic on June 30 at the Harry M. Caudill Memorial Library in Whitesburg.
