The Russellville City Council held a work session to establish a committee tasked with studying data centers and drafting protective measures for the city's zoning and land-use regulations. Approximately 40 residents attended the Monday meeting.
Mayor Fred Teague and council members clarified that no specific data center project has been proposed within Russellville. The formation of this committee follows the City Council's recent approval of a six-month moratorium on new data center proposals. Mayor Teague stressed the importance of having clear, legally sound regulations in place to guide any potential future data center developments, stating that the committee's role is to develop "parameters and guardrails" for such scenarios.
