Rich Hossfeld, co-CEO of SB Energy, appeared on CNBC's "Squawk Box" to discuss the PORTS-Pike Technology Campus under construction in Ohio. SB Energy's role in the massive project involves securing the land, developing the power solution, and constructing the turnkey data center shells. The company estimates its portion of the project to be 30-40% of the overall cost, which could approach $500 billion.
The project is slated to host a data center for OpenAI, with Nvidia providing significant financial backing, up to $105 billion, and securing exclusivity on the site for its full suite of products. Hossfeld clarified that SB Energy is not involved in supplying the compute hardware; that aspect is handled by OpenAI and Nvidia, with Nvidia financing SB Energy's development work.
