Pennsylvania lawmakers are advancing legislation to address the rapid growth of data centers across the state. The statehouse recently passed two significant bills aimed at regulating potential data center developments and increasing transparency. House Bill 2150 mandates that data center operators report their annual energy and water usage. Concurrently, House Bill 2151 directs the state's local government commission to formulate a model ordinance. This ordinance will guide localities in regulating various aspects of data center operations, including noise levels, facility size, and water consumption. Both proposals have now moved to the state Senate for further consideration.
