The Wright County Board of Commissioners has approved the establishment of a data center workgroup. This newly formed group will convene monthly to address the ongoing data center moratorium affecting townships within Wright County and to assist in developing a comprehensive ordinance.
The proposed ordinance, once crafted, will be submitted to the county board for final approval. Officials indicate that the objective of the workgroup, which aims to have 14 members, is to gather diverse perspectives and skill sets from various community members.
Operating in an advisory capacity, the workgroup will offer recommendations to the County Board of Commissioners. These recommendations will cover a range of issues associated with data center development, including efforts to balance economic growth opportunities with potential long-term environmental, infrastructure, and community impacts.
