City officials traced the leak to a privately owned fire hydrant located at a data center managed by Athlon BT, an El Reno-based tech firm specializing in facilities for artificial intelligence networking, cloud computing, and Bitcoin mining.
During their investigation into the cause of the leak and while repairing the waterline, city officials uncovered several code violations at the Athlon BT facility. These included severe drainage problems and expired building permits on the property, according to local reports. Neither Athlon BT nor El Reno officials have responded to CNN's requests for comment regarding the incident.
