Jocelyn Benson answers data center question
During a Michigan gubernatorial debate, Jocelyn Benson denied that her family has financially benefited from data centers in Saline. She called for a moratorium on new data center development until safeguards address local control, water use, energy costs and community benefits.
During the #MIGovDebate, Jocelyn Benson responded to allegations that her husband had financially benefited from data center development in Saline, Michigan. Benson said her family’s disclosed finances show they have not profited from data centers and called the allegation false.
Benson also proposed a moratorium on new data center developments until the state establishes stronger guardrails. Her priorities include preserving local control, protecting water resources, requiring data centers to cover the costs of their energy use and creating community benefits agreements.
