A Coweta County hearing is scheduled for Oct. 20 on whether to revert the 323.9-acre site for the proposed Project Peach data center from industrial to rural conservation zoning. The developers have not yet secured a required power purchase agreement or land disturbance permit, and the project has faced opposition from Palmetto residents and elected officials.

The Coweta County Board of Commissioners will hold an Oct. 20 public hearing on reverting the 323.9-acre Project Peach site near Highway 29, Weldon Road and Johnston Circle to rural conservation zoning. The property was rezoned for industrial use in April 2025, but the developers have not provided the county with a required power purchase agreement or obtained a land disturbance permit.

CyrusOne representatives previously said negotiations with Georgia Power were delayed because the data center’s end user had not been determined. The commissioners had granted a 12-month extension for the project to meet its requirements, while Palmetto residents and elected officials spoke against the original rezoning and continued development of the site.
