Southwest Las Vegas warehouse planned as fitness facility, not data center, county says
A homeowner in Southwest Las Vegas expressed concern that a large warehouse near his home might be converted into a data center, citing a potential connection to Switch. However, Clark County officials clarified that the property is being remodeled into a fitness and wellness facility called Life Muse, with all construction following approved plans for that purpose.
A resident in a Southwest Las Vegas neighborhood, Erik Tufteland, raised concerns about a massive warehouse under construction near his home, suspecting it might be connected to Switch, a known data center operator. Tufteland, who reached out to local news Channel 13, expressed worry about potential noise if a data center were to be built.
Clark County officials, in response to inquiries, stated that the ongoing construction at 7180 Myers Street has no connection to a data center. They confirmed that the property owner, Myers Property LLC, has approved permits to remodel the existing warehouse into a fitness and wellness facility named Life Muse. The plans include adding a second floor, an exterior deck, an elevator, and stairs.
The county's Building Department has conducted numerous inspections, ensuring that the work adheres to the approved plans for the fitness facility. Officials also noted that their records do not indicate any past ties between the property and Switch. Despite the county's clarification, Tufteland questioned the rationale behind converting such a large warehouse into a gym, reflecting continued neighborhood concerns about the development's impact.
