Palm Springs City Council to Receive Update on Data Center Moratorium
The Palm Springs City Council is scheduled to receive an update on its temporary 45-day moratorium on new data center projects. The moratorium, enacted on August 26 and set to expire October 10, allows city officials to study potential regulations and consider longer-term rules as part of the city's zoning code update.
The Palm Springs City Council is slated to hold its second and final vote on proposed rules for cannabis consumption lounges, which would permit non-cannabis food and beverages, live music, and up to 24 ticketed events annually. These lounges would need to operate within fully enclosed, soundproofed spaces.
During the same meeting, the council will also get an update on the city's temporary moratorium on new data center projects. The 45-day moratorium, which began on August 26 and is set to end on October 10, temporarily halted the acceptance and processing of new data center applications. City officials are utilizing this pause to develop comprehensive, long-term regulations for data centers as part of an ongoing update to the city's zoning code.
