Three data centers are under construction in Reno, including projects on Keystone Avenue and North Virginia Street, while three others are already operating. The Reno City Council has imposed a moratorium barring additional data center construction through Aug. 31, 2027, pending new regulations, amid concerns about power and water use.

Reno has six data centers within city limits, with three currently under construction and three operating. Centra is developing the Keystone Data Center on Keystone Avenue, while Webb Data Center and Oppidan Data Center are being built on North Virginia Street. The projects range from 61,500 to 91,200 square feet and have received planning approvals and building permits.

The facilities are expected to consume substantial electricity, particularly the Webb project at 28.5 megawatts, while their reported water use ranges from 2 to 8 acre-feet annually. The Reno City Council enacted a moratorium in June that prevents additional data center construction through Aug. 31, 2027, unless new city regulations are added. The Webb approval was appealed to the council and upheld in January 2025.
