Project Jupiter expands outreach in Doña Ana County; protest planned
Project Jupiter, an Oracle data center in Doña Ana County, New Mexico, is expanding its bilingual community outreach with an open house and advertising campaigns to address residents' concerns. Despite these efforts to clarify the project's economic, energy, and water plans, a protest is scheduled to take place at the proposed data center site.
Oracle's Project Jupiter, a planned data center in Doña Ana County, New Mexico, is ramping up its community engagement through expanded bilingual outreach efforts. The initiative, announced by Oracle officials, includes a public awareness campaign, partnerships with local social media influencers, and a new advertising push in both English and Spanish. These efforts aim to inform residents about the large-scale data center's anticipated economic, workforce, and community impacts.
The project representatives will host a community open house in Santa Teresa on June 17 and conduct door-to-door conversations across the state to provide information, answer questions, and gather feedback. Oracle officials have emphasized that the company will cover all energy costs to prevent impacts on residential electricity rates and stated that the data center's cooling systems and fuel cell power solution will use non-potable water, not relying on the Camino Real Regional Utility Authority's drinking water supply.
Despite the outreach, concerns persist regarding the project's energy and water usage. A protest against Project Jupiter is scheduled to occur at the proposed data center site on Sports Complex Street.
