
Dickson City Zoning Board upholds ordinance governing data centers in the borough
The Dickson City Zoning Hearing Board unanimously denied an appeal by Dickson City Development LLC against a local data center zoning ordinance. The developer aims to build four data centers on Bell Mountain in a residential/business zone, which conflicts with the borough's ordinance restricting data centers to a light manufacturing zone. The dispute will now proceed to the Lackawanna County Court of Common Pleas, as the developer is also appealing a permit denial.
The Dickson City Zoning Hearing Board has unanimously upheld a borough ordinance governing data centers, denying an appeal from Dickson City Development LLC. The developer had sought to construct a four-building data center project on Bell Mountain, an area zoned for homes and businesses, conflicting with the borough's February ordinance that designates a 70-acre light manufacturing (M1) zone for data centers.
Attorney Michael Mey, representing Dickson City Development LLC, argued the ordinance was
