Council still has work to do on data center moratorium

The Oneonta Common Council convened on Tuesday, May 5, to deliberate on a draft local law that would impose a moratorium on the construction of new data centers within the city limits. Scott Harrington, the R-Sixth Ward representative and acting mayor for the session, led the discussion as council members reviewed the potential legislation. However, no definitive action was taken on the draft moratorium during the meeting. Harrington informed the council that, according to procedure, any such local law must be presented and available for public review for a period of seven days prior to its consideration at a subsequent council meeting, indicating that further steps are necessary before a vote or final decision can be made.
