Greenville Village Board to Vote on Data Center Moratorium
The Village Board in Greenville, Wisconsin, is scheduled to vote on whether to implement a one-year moratorium on new data center developments. This pause would allow village officials to research potential impacts and develop regulations for future data center projects, as no proposals have yet been received.
The Village of Greenville, Wisconsin, is currently debating a proposed one-year moratorium on new data center projects. The Village Board is scheduled to hold a final vote on the measure at 5 PM at Village Hall.
Local 5's Paul Sino reported that the moratorium would essentially halt any potential new data center developments, giving village officials time to research potential impacts and develop specific regulations should a proposal emerge in the future. Officials have stated that they have not yet received any calls from data center developers for projects in the village. The Planning Commission unanimously backed the one-year moratorium on May 18th, following a meeting with concerned residents.
