Oklahoma Gas and Electric (OG&E) announced its intent to power three new Google data centers in Muskogee and Stillwater, Oklahoma. According to a news release from OG&E, these Electric Service Agreements and Capacity Purchase Agreements are expected to drive economic growth for local communities and the state, contribute to grid stability, and benefit the utility's current customers.
The agreements will be submitted for review to the Oklahoma Corporation Commission, the state's utility regulator. Google has committed to covering all connection costs to the grid and its share of the power generation required for the data centers.
Sean Trauschke, chairman, president, and CEO of OG&E Energy Corp., emphasized the partnership's role in advancing growth in Oklahoma. Will Conkling, Google's director of Energy and Power, Americas, highlighted the commitment to affordability for Stillwater and Muskogee residents, the addition of new generation resources to the grid, and guaranteed upfront funding for infrastructure.
Two large solar fields already under construction in Muskogee County are slated to help supply power to the new Google facilities.
