Data Center Proposed in Estherville
PathOne Data Centers presented plans for a potential 25-megawatt data center on about 12 acres in Estherville’s south-side industrial park. The Estherville Planning and Zoning Commission is developing rules for data centers and plans to continue discussions before potentially sending them to the City Council.
PathOne Data Centers presented a proposal to the Estherville Planning and Zoning Commission for an edge data center in the city’s south-side industrial park. Giles Ulenhop of PathOne said the facility could reach 25 megawatts, occupy roughly 12 acres and employ 15 to 25 people.
The developer said Estherville’s industrial-zoned land and available power capacity make it a suitable location for a rural data center. The commission is beginning discussions on rules governing data centers and is scheduled to continue them at its Oct. 29 meeting. If the commission agrees on the rules, the proposal would move to the Estherville City Council, which could vote on whether to hold a future public forum.
