Protesters decry data center projects as harmful on steps of Michigan Capitol

As artificial intelligence continues to advance, the need for data centers to process requests grows. Proposals to build those complexes Michigan, however, have been controversial. Tuesday, opponents took their concerns to Lansing. People from across the state gathered on the frigid steps of the state capitol, rallying against the increasing number of data center plans. "We're united to stop the desecration of our lands and waters and the parasitic extraction of our art, our culture, our labor," Seth Bernard, who opposed a planned data center in Kalkaska, Mich., said.
