Bulloch County data center committee asks for more time before moratorium expires
A newly formed Bulloch County committee is asking for a 180-day extension of the county’s data center moratorium, which is set to expire Dec. 31. The committee is reviewing proposed zoning rules and plans to recommend regulations to the Board of Commissioners before new data center applications are accepted.
A 15-member Bulloch County data center committee is seeking additional time to develop rules governing future data center projects. The county’s current moratorium is scheduled to expire Dec. 31, but committee members want it extended for 180 days while they review proposed zoning regulations and prepare recommendations for the Board of Commissioners.
The committee plans to meet twice a month and has elected a chair and vice chair. Its chairman said the group wants a complete, rational set of ordinances in place so prospective applicants understand the county’s expectations before submitting new data center proposals.
