However, the Plan Commission has recommended approval and the city staff is also supporting the project. The data center developers have agreed to contribute $100 million to Joliet if the project is approved, in addition to an expected $310 million in property taxes over 30 years. The project has the support of regional construction unions, who expect over 7,000 jobs to be created during construction.
