Charlotte city staff provided an update to the Transportation and Planning Committee regarding the city's 150-day data center moratorium, which is nearing its halfway point. Since June, staff have been researching data centers and held a focus group meeting, launching an online FAQ.
The recommendations presented focused on minor adjustments rather than major reforms, including new site assessments and community engagement requirements for future data center projects. The City Council is expected to appoint members to a data center task force, which will convene on August 13.
