Alhambra Voters to Decide on Short-Term Rental Tax, Permanent Data Center Ban
Alhambra voters will decide in the November 2026 general election whether to permanently ban data centers in the city. The City Council placed the measure on the ballot at residents’ request; the city says a data center ban already exists by ordinance but would become permanent and require voter approval to change if approved.
Alhambra voters are scheduled to decide in November 2026 whether to permanently prohibit data centers in the city. The Data Center Ban Measure was placed on the ballot by the Alhambra City Council at residents’ request.
City officials said an existing ordinance already bans data centers, but the proposed measure would make the prohibition permanent and require voter approval for any future change. The ballot will also include a separate measure applying the city’s existing 12% transient occupancy tax to short-term rental guests.
