HD Hyundai Marine Solution, a maritime service division of HD Hyundai, has officially entered the North American data center power solutions market. The company signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Aperion Energy Group (AEG), a U.S. energy infrastructure developer, to establish a long-term cooperation framework.
The agreement specifically targets a data center under construction by AEG in Texas, where HD Hyundai Marine Solution will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of 33 power generation engines. These engines, 20-megawatt-class HiMSEN units totaling 684 megawatts, were previously contracted for supply by HD Hyundai Heavy Industries to AEG in April.
This partnership is driven by the increasing demand for reliable backup and prime power systems in data centers, a critical factor given the surge in electricity consumption fueled by AI technology. HD Hyundai Marine Solution aims to leverage this collaboration to expand its presence in North America and reinforce its high-value recurring service revenue model through long-term service and O&M contracts covering the full lifecycle of the engines.
