Meta has announced plans for a 28-U.S. data center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, marking the company's first such facility in the state. This new data center is intended to support expanding AI workloads and is part of Meta's $600 billion commitment to U.S. infrastructure projects over the next three years.
Vertiv CEO Giordano Albertazzi, whose company provides infrastructure for AI data centers, commented on the overall health of the industry, stating his bullishness despite reports of some new data center plans being delayed or canceled. Albertazzi emphasized that the industry is experiencing strong pipelines and continued vibrancy, globally recognizing it as being in the early stages of AI infrastructure deployment with a significant gap between demand and capacity.
He also addressed the 'not in my backyard' (NIMBY) issue and the growing trend of local regulators and states outright banning data centers.
