Proposed Trident data center proposal in northeast sparks anger among residents

Residents of Aurora, Colorado, expressed strong opposition to the proposed Trident data center during a recent City Council meeting. Over three hours of public comment were dedicated to the project, which would be the largest data center in Colorado, located at 23001 East 48th Ave in northeast Aurora.
Around 100 residents, primarily from The Reserve senior housing community and the Windler and Green Valley Ranch neighborhoods, attended, with nearly all standing in opposition when prompted by City Attorney Pete Schulte. Speakers, ranging from 16 to 86 years old, urged the council to implement regulations for data centers, specifically requesting residential buffers and robust health and environmental safeguards for the Trident facility. No one spoke in support of the development.
