West End Henrico families organizing to oppose data centers in neighboring Goochland
Parents and residents in Henrico County’s West End have formed Western Henrico Neighbors to oppose proposed data center development in neighboring Goochland County. They cite concerns about noise, diesel emissions, environmental and health impacts, property values and the effects on roughly 20,000 residents.
Parents in Henico County’s West End formed Western Henrico Neighbors to inform residents about proposed data center developments in eastern Goochland County, near suburban neighborhoods. Organizers including Erin Robertson and Liz Morgan said families fear noise, diesel emissions, environmental and health impacts, declining property values and limited community benefits.
The Goochland County Board of Supervisors approved a Technology Overlay District and a separate technology zone in November 2025 to encourage development in the eastern part of the county. Goochland County Administrator Dr. Jeremy Raley said county officials have been communicating with residents, staff and board members, while opponents planned a public meeting at Christ Church Episcopal in Glen Allen to discuss the projects.
