The Ypsilanti Indivisible group is organizing the third nationwide "No Kings" protest, set to take place on March 28, 2026 in Ypsilanti, Michigan. This protest movement began in June 2025 as a response to the policies of the Trump administration, with millions of people demonstrating across the country on the U.S. Army's 250th anniversary and Trump's 79th birthday.
The Ypsilanti event is being co-hosted by Ypsilanti Indivisible and Ann Arbor Indivisible, and they expect over 4,000 people to attend. The protest will focus on a range of local and national issues, including opposition to immigration enforcement actions by ICE, concerns over a proposed data center project by the University of Michigan and Los Alamos National Laboratory, and the "Free Krystal Clark" movement supporting a woman imprisoned at the Huron Valley Women's Prison who has faced medical issues due to mold.
Organizer Gordon McAllister encourages attendees to make signs, wear colorful clothing, and bring instruments to create an upbeat, party-like atmosphere. He hopes to see strong turnout from young people, as he believes they will be most impacted by the issues being protested.
