Antora Energy, a San Jose-based thermal battery company, is substantially increasing its operational space in North San Jose, California. The expansion involves acquiring two additional buildings near its original Zanker Road location, more than doubling its footprint to approximately 101,000 square feet. According to David Bierman, Antora’s co-founder and chief commercial officer, this growth is driven by surging demand for its industrial energy storage technology, particularly from data centers seeking reliable and cost-efficient power solutions amidst growing electrification pressures and power constraints. Co-founder Justin Briggs emphasized the strategic advantage of manufacturing in the Bay Area due to available talent. The expansion comes as San Jose solidifies its position as a burgeoning data center hub. The article notes several other significant data center developments in North San Jose. Late last year, an affiliate of Bay Area real estate firm Menlo Equities proposed converting an office and research building at 300 Holger Way into a nearly 100,000-square-foot data center, a building that Nvidia began leasing recently. This redevelopment is projected to start late this year and conclude by July 2027. Additionally, a 46.8-acre site at 350 and 370 West Trimble Road, previously slated for a data center, was acquired for $200 million by a Goodman Group affiliate in October. Prior to this sale, previous owner LBA Realty had submitted a development permit to the City of San Jose to construct a 207,950-square-foot data center on the parcel. Goodman Group is globally recognized for developing, owning, and managing logistics and data centers, further indicating the region's increasing importance for the sector.
