U.S. Rep. Debbie Dingell, who represents Michigan’s 6th Congressional District, is soliciting public feedback on a proposed national Data Center Bill of Rights. The framework would give communities greater influence over data center planning and regulation and require companies to pay infrastructure costs associated with their projects.

The proposal would also seek to shield homeowners from higher utility rates and increase transparency through public participation and environmental oversight. Dingell plans to gather input before formally introducing legislation as Michigan communities continue debating the effects of data center growth on power, water and transportation systems.
