DeSoto County Planning Commission Recommends Denial of Data Center Rezoning
The DeSoto County Planning Commission recommended denying a rezoning request tied to a proposed data center near Arcadia after hours of questions about water use, noise, site design and other community impacts. The project is not dead because the DeSoto County Board of County Commissioners will make the final decision.
The DeSoto County Planning Commission voted to recommend denial of a rezoning request for the 3F Ranch property, part of a proposed data center development in the Arcadia area. Commissioners and residents questioned DeSoto County Industrial Park Group representatives and county staff about potential water consumption, noise, site design and other effects, while the applicant said many details would be addressed during later master planning and improvement-plan stages.
The recommendation followed concerns from residents, including Karen Pritchard and Michelle Grigg, who offered different views about the project's potential impacts and economic benefits. Applicant officials also said they needed more time to review proposed rezoning conditions. The request now goes to the DeSoto County Board of County Commissioners, which has final authority and could determine whether the project proceeds.
