ABC15 Arizona toured NTT's developing data center campus in Mesa, which is planned to include seven facilities and eventually exceed 200 megawatts of power capacity. NTT says its closed-loop cooling system reduces ongoing water consumption, while the campus's growth raises broader questions about Arizona's electricity and water resources.

NTT's Mesa campus is still under construction and is expected to include seven data centers, with total power capacity exceeding 200 megawatts when complete. The company says construction will continue for at least two more years, and the campus is connected to the Salt River Project grid through infrastructure NTT funded.

During a tour, NTT Chief Technology Officer Bruno Berti and Senior Vice President of Marketing Steve Lim described the company's closed-loop cooling system, which recirculates water and requires about 50,000 gallons to initially fill each building. The facility's expansion comes as Arizona faces growing concerns over data centers' electricity demand, water use and effects on the broader grid; NTT says it is inviting public tours and discussions to improve transparency.
