New Mexico Land Commissioner Stephanie Garcia Richard initially denied this request in March, expressing concerns over potential gas emissions and the data center's anticipated strain on the region's water supply and natural resources. The company subsequently asked her to reconsider the decision, but Commissioner Garcia Richard upheld her original stance, denying the request a second time.
