The Mesa Planning Commission has recommended approval for NTT Data Group Corp.'s $300 million, 2.2 million-square-foot data center project in Mesa, Arizona. The development, which includes a private and a new Salt River Project substation, is moving forward despite increasing scrutiny of data center projects in the region, including recent opposition to a project in Chandler.

NTT Data Group Corp. is proceeding with a significant data center development in Mesa, Arizona, following a unanimous recommendation for approval by the Mesa Planning Commission on May 13. The project, valued at $300 million, involves constructing a seven-building campus totaling 2.2 million square feet on 173 acres at 10126 E. Pecos Road, which NTT Data Group Corp. acquired in March 2025.

The planned campus will feature both a private power substation and a new Salt River Project substation to support its operations. This approval occurs amidst growing public scrutiny of data center developments in the Phoenix metropolitan area, a trend highlighted by a contentious four-hour meeting last December where the Chandler City Council faced strong opposition to the "Price Road Innovation Campus" data center project.
