Residents in Lebanon, Indiana, are reporting significant disruption from bright lights and constant noise emanating from Meta's ongoing data center construction project. Kimberly Moore, a local resident, describes sleepless nights and constant noise, stating the project's lights cover an area equivalent to 100 football fields, obscuring the night sky. While not seeking to halt the project, residents are asking for improved conditions and more consideration from the developers.

Residents in Lebanon, Indiana, are experiencing significant disruption due to the ongoing construction of a 1,500-acre Meta data center campus. Kimberly Moore, a longtime resident, shared with 13News that bright construction lights illuminate the night sky for miles around her home, making it difficult to sleep and obscuring stars. She also reports constant noise, likening it to a "helicopter sound" and feeling as though her home is being "invaded."
Moore estimates the sheer number of lights used for the project could cover 100 football fields, causing round-the-clock light pollution that disrupts her family's sleep. While she acknowledges that the project, which will include 10 data center buildings, is likely to proceed, she advocates for better courtesy from Meta, such as shutting off lights at night when construction crews are not present.
Meta had previously stated the project would boost local and state tax bases and support community organizations through grant programs. However, Moore expresses concern that the well-being of local residents is being overlooked in favor of progress. 13News has reached out to Meta for comment on the residents' lighting concerns.
