Warrick Co. holding public meeting on data center zoning ordinance
Warrick County officials are holding a public meeting on a proposed data center zoning ordinance. The ordinance would create a floating Data Center Overlay District requiring heavier industrial zoning and special approval, following Alcoa's proposal for the 700-acre Project Alloy site.
Warrick County officials will hold a public meeting at the Friedman Park Event Center to gather input on a proposed ordinance regulating data center development. The measure would establish a floating Data Center Overlay District and require heavier industrial zoning and special approval for data centers and related campuses.
The ordinance follows Alcoa's announcement of Project Alloy, a proposed data center development on about 700 acres near the company's riverside complex. Officials emphasized that no specific property is being rezoned and no project is being approved through the ordinance. The Warrick County Board of Commissioners is scheduled to discuss the measure at a Nov. 9 meeting.
