
Compass Datacenters’ Red Oak, Texas, Campus Drives Skilled-Trade Jobs and Worker Training
Compass Datacenters’ Red Oak, Texas, campus has become a major source of skilled-trade employment, with about 900 workers at the campus and thousands of construction jobs tied to its development. The company also partnered with Texas State Technical College on a $12.6 million training facility to prepare workers for data center careers.
Compass Datacenters CEO Chris Crosby highlighted the company’s Red Oak, Texas, campus as an example of the data center industry’s demand for electricians, mechanics, technicians, welders, carpenters and other skilled workers. Developed beginning in 2019, the campus now comprises 10 data center buildings totaling about 2.6 million square feet, along with a Schneider Electric manufacturing facility and a technical college training program.
Crosby said approximately 900 people work at the campus, including about 600 Compass employees and roughly 300 Schneider Electric workers, while thousands of construction workers have contributed to the site over several years. Compass partnered with Texas State Technical College to establish a $12.6 million training facility and its MEI Pathways program, which provides entry-level preparation for mechanical, electrical and information technology careers across the data center industry.
