Hermantown officials rescheduled a special City Council meeting on a proposed permit for up to three Google data center buildings to October 30, 2026. Two earlier meetings were canceled—one after protests and large crowds and another because of early voting conflicts.

The city will close its front desk and City Hall to the public at 4 p.m., with limited seating and controlled entry for the 6:30 p.m. meeting. Parking restrictions, marked public areas and a ban on bags and backpacks are intended to manage expected attendance. Members of Stop the Hermantown Data Center and City Council representatives have continued to address the events surrounding the canceled October 26 meeting.
