In Point Pleasant, West Virginia, the Monarch Compute Campus, an AI data center and gas-fired power plant, is slated to begin its first phase of operations in early 2027, promising 700 jobs. Nscale Global Holdings, a UK-based tech startup backed by Nvidia, Nokia, and Dell, recently acquired American Intelligence & Power Corp., the company developing the Monarch Compute Campus. Nscale's chief power and energy officer, Dan Shapiro, stated the project along W.Va. 62 near Camp Conley will be "transformative for West Virginia and the region."
Construction on the site is reportedly "weeks away." Executives from key suppliers, including Caterpillar (generators), Babcock & Wilcox, and Powell Industries (switchgear structures), were present in the Point Pleasant area alongside Nscale's Shapiro, highlighting the project's reliance on "made-in-America content." The Mason County facility is expected to employ a mix of blue-collar and high-tech workers.
