Data center developer appears to be eyeing land northwest of Lincoln
Coffee Grounds Data LLC has agreed to purchase about 560 acres northwest of Lincoln for $3.46 million, apparently to pursue a data center development. The disclosure comes as residents and Gage County officials consider an 18-month moratorium on data centers amid opposition to potential hyperscale projects.
Coffee Grounds Data LLC, a Delaware-registered developer, signed a purchase agreement for roughly 560 acres near 40th and McKelvie Road northwest of Lincoln for $3.46 million. The prospective project follows another developer’s agreements for 1,700 acres west of Hallam, expanding data center interest in the region.
Meanwhile, residents spoke at a public hearing in Beatrice on a proposed 18-month Gage County moratorium on data centers. Several attendees voiced opposition, citing concerns about the compatibility of a potential hyperscale industrial park with nearby residential development, while the Gage County Board of Supervisors heard testimony on the proposal.
