Pittsburg Mayor Dionne Adams said the City Council will consider a 45-day emergency moratorium on future data center development at its Oct. 26 meeting. The proposed pause would include Phases II and III of AVAIO Digital's data center project. Adams said she has recused herself from recent project-related decisions because of her employer's involvement.

The potential moratorium follows months of resident questions and concerns about the effects of data centers on Pittsburg neighborhoods. City staff have expanded public outreach, and a community advisory council is developing recommendations for future data center policies. The council's vote is intended to give the city time to complete that work.
