The Trenton City Council conducted a last-minute vote on September 3 to certify the petition, ensuring the measure's inclusion on the November ballot.
This decision clarifies previous concerns regarding the ballot placement. Initially, it was believed the measure could not be placed on the November 3rd ballot because it specifically referenced a special election. However, authorities clarified that the special election could be run concurrently with the general election. Paul Newton, an investigator with the county prosecutor's office, delivered a letter from Prosecutor Mike Moser to the council members concerning the matter.
