What we know about Delaware County’s potential data center plan, ‘Project Trainer’
Link Logistics is exploring a potential data center project, dubbed "Project Trainer," in Trainer Borough, Delaware County, Pennsylvania. Link Logistics is reportedly considering a significant data center development, "Project Trainer," in Trainer Borough, a small community in Delaware County, Pennsylvania. Local residents are organizing in opposition, even as borough officials granted preliminary zoning approval for the site located near residential areas and the Monroe Energy oil refinery. Despite this preliminary approval, Link Logistics' lawyer, Leonard B. Altieri III, stated that no formal application has been made and the company is still in the "due diligence phase."
According to a preliminary test fit drawing obtained by WHYY News through a public records request, the proposed two-story data center would require 120 megawatts of electricity and would likely include a 3-acre electrical substation and backup gas or diesel-powered generators. Altieri clarified that the cooling system would be closed-loop, thus not requiring process water.
However, Altieri emphasized that these details are not final, and Link Logistics has not yet decided whether to proceed with the data center project. PECO, the electric utility, declined to comment on potential customers or projects due to privacy reasons. The vacant 24-acre site is currently being advertised by Link Logistics as a "build-to-suit warehouse" called the Juniper Pointe Logistics Center.
