Meta to build 'hyperscale facility' in NKY; would be largest data center in state
The Mason County Fiscal Court unanimously approved a resolution allowing Meta to move forward with plans for a 2,000-acre hyperscale data center site. The project is expected to generate millions of dollars in investment, thousands of construction jobs and at least 400 permanent jobs, although some Maysville-area residents oppose the development and may need to relocate.
The Mason County Fiscal Court in Kentucky unanimously approved a resolution allowing Meta’s planned hyperscale data center to advance on a 2,000-acre site. County leaders supporting the project said it would bring millions of dollars in investment, about 2,000 construction and trades jobs, at least 400 high-paying permanent positions, and infrastructure improvements without placing the cost on local taxpayers.
The vote follows the fiscal court’s approval of zoning for the controversial facility in May. While some residents have opposed the project, construction of the initial phase is expected to begin within three years, and dozens of residents in Maysville may have to move to accommodate the development.
