Salem Officially Adopts Data Center Moratorium

The City of Salem's council unanimously voted to enact a data center moratorium at a special session held on Monday, September 22nd. The measure will remain in effect until January 19th, 2027.

This decision follows similar actions taken by other Oregon cities, including Hillsboro and Woodburn, which have also implemented temporary halts on data center development. Oregon law permits cities to pass such moratoriums, with the possibility of extensions for an additional six months.
