QTS to Invest $250 Million in Texas Water Infrastructure and Stewardship Over the Next Decade
QTS announced a $250 million investment over the next decade in Texas water infrastructure, conservation, and community-focused water projects. This pledge includes replacing an aging water tower in Turkey, Texas, and investing in water replenishment and conservation efforts with the Bonneville Environmental Foundation. QTS also plans to deploy its Water-Free Cooling Design at future Texas data centers to reduce water consumption.
QTS has pledged a $250 million investment over the next 10 years for water infrastructure, conservation, and community water projects across Texas. The initiative, dubbed the QTS Water Infrastructure and Stewardship Pledge, aims to enhance water reliability, increase efficiency, and bolster local water systems, according to Co-CEOs Tag Greason and David Robey.
The initial phase of this investment will focus on a partnership with the City of Turkey, Texas, to permanently replace its aging water tower. Additionally, QTS plans to allocate $15 million over the decade to collaborate with the Bonneville Environmental Foundation on various water replenishment and conservation projects throughout the state, including leak detection and habitat restoration.
QTS also stated its commitment to implementing its Water-Free Cooling Design in future Texas data center developments. This closed-loop system significantly reduces water usage compared to traditional evaporative cooling, consuming water only once for initial charging. Michael McNamara, CEO of Lancium, which owns the Hall County Clean Campus where QTS is building, expressed support for QTS's investment and its partnership in Turkey.
State Senator Charles Perry (District 28) and Representative Ken King (District 88) commended QTS's investment, highlighting its potential to address critical community needs and demonstrate how infrastructure, conservation, and economic development can mutually benefit a growing Texas. QTS intends to announce further partnerships as projects are finalized.
