Upper Hanover Twp. Data Center plans withdrawn, but construction may still occur on the property
Hanover Development Limited Partnership has withdrawn its applications for a proposed 150,000-square-foot data center in Upper Hanover Township, Montgomery County. The developer is considering building single-family homes instead, but that plan would require residential rezoning, which the township may review but is not required to approve.
Hanover Development Limited Partnership principal Robert Downs has withdrawn applications for a proposed data center on 37 acres of farmland in Upper Hanover Township. The project, which faced a zoning challenge, would have included a 150,000-square-foot facility in the township’s Light Industrial district.
The developer is considering a residential alternative, but single-family homes would require a zoning change. Upper Hanover Township officials said they would review an application consistent with nearby Parklands Development lots, while Township Manager Anne Klepfer said the withdrawn data center proposal created significant administrative costs and disruption for the township.
