TeraWulf hosts job fair ahead of Boyd County data center town hall
TeraWulf hosted a job fair in Boyd County, Kentucky, for its upcoming Muskie Data Campus, emphasizing local job creation and training programs. The project has sparked resident concerns, which TeraWulf plans to address at an upcoming community meeting.
TeraWulf, the company developing the new Muskie Data Campus in Boyd County, Kentucky, recently hosted a job fair for students at Ashland Community and Technical College. This event, held in partnership with the Tri-State Building Trades Council, aimed to showcase employment opportunities stemming from the data center project, with officials stressing the creation of "life-sustaining" career paths for local workers.
The Muskie Data Campus, projected to be a 1-gigawatt facility comprising two phases and four buildings, is under construction on the East Park property. Upon completion, it is expected to generate 80 to 100 full-time positions directly with TeraWulf. Pace Rahl, TeraWulf's vice president of project development, indicated the company's commitment to local hiring and outlined plans to collaborate with ACTC to develop a specialized training program for students, preparing them for roles at the new data center.
However, the announcement of the data center has been met with significant community concern, leading to a "heated discussion" during a recent town hall attended by county leaders. In response to these public sentiments, TeraWulf has scheduled a community informational meeting for Wednesday evening at the Boyd County High School Gymnasium to address residents' questions and concerns.
