U.S. Senate Democratic candidate Dr. Annie Andrews called for a two-year pause on data center development during a campaign event in Columbia, South Carolina. Speaking near the Columbia Canal, Andrews argued that residents and farmers should have a role in decisions affecting water resources, land and local communities.
Andrews also criticized her opponent, Senator Darline Graham, alleging that pro-data-center political action committees have spent millions on Graham's television advertising. She further opposed legislation Graham supported that provides $70 million in tax breaks to data centers.
