The Wright County Board has established a Data Center Moratorium Workgroup following its decision to pass a one-year moratorium on considering new data center development proposals across Wright County townships.

Approved at the June 16th meeting, the workgroup's purpose is to serve in an advisory capacity, offering recommendations to the board. Its scope includes balancing economic development opportunities with potential long-term environmental, infrastructure, and community impacts associated with data center projects.

The workgroup will consist of up to ten appointed members, joining County Commissioners Darek Vetsch and Kirby Moynagh, and Planning Commission members Charlie Borrell and Randy Wilson. The board is specifically seeking two township supervisors, one local utility representative, one local water resources expert, two data center industry representatives, and four community members with relevant interests.

Interested individuals must submit a Letter of Interest by July 10th, 2026, including their contact information, desired membership category, relevant background, and a statement outlining their interest and perspective on data center development, land use planning, infrastructure, environmental stewardship, economic development, or community impacts. Appointments are expected to be considered at the Wright County Board of Commissioners' July 21, 2026, meeting.
